Snorkeling at Colombia, Palancar & El Cielo for Cruise Ship Passengers by Boat

Voyage on a boat to the world famous El Cielo in the south. Located in the Arrecifes de Cozumel national park. El Cielo means heaven, sky, paradise to Heaven. You will not be disappointed when you see its stunning crystal-clear turquoise water, and idyllic white sandy ocean floor. This snorkeling adventure really does take you to heaven on earth.

Let the sea set you free, when exploring the Palancar reef. Typical fish to see in this area are angel fish, butterfly fish, triggerfish, and parrotfish.

Journey onto the Colombia reef, which sits in shallow sand with a maximum depth of 30 feet. The coral formations that reach up to 8 to 10 feet of the surface, gives you superb views of marine life.

Drift away in Heaven at "El Cielo", this breathtaking paradise where sting rays come out to greet you, while cruising the shallow luminous waters, along the sparkling white sand.

Ice cold Beer and refreshments are served with fresh fruits and snacks. It’s the perfect way to end the day.

  1. We'll meet outside the Hotel "El Cid La Ceiba", you’ll receive a quick debriefing, and a guide will collect your remaining balance. Located within walking distance of the two largest cruise ship ports at Cozumel.
  2. You'll board your boat, and the guide will explain safety measures and the protocol you'll have to follow underwater, as well as how to use your equipment correctly. It's essential to pay close attention.
  3. The boat ride to the first stop takes around 40 minutes.
  4. The guide will hand you your equipment with your new snorkel tube, courtesy of Safe Tours Cozumel. This is a sign that it is time to start jumping into the water.
  5. Your first stop will be Colombia and Palancar Reefs.
  6. You will be accompanied by a certified guide in the ocean. They will be able to help you identify typical fish that you are likely to see in the area. Like angel fish, butterfly fish, triggerfish, and parrotfish at Palancar. In Colombia is where the coral formations are made of sponges and a variety of hard corals. These are home to several varieties of fish including filefish, parrotfish, and angel fish.
  7. The next stop is “El Cielo,” there you'll spend another 20-25 minutes. This beautiful and fascinating area really lives up to its name. As you snorkel with the starfish, you will also find large gray sting rays cruising between the sand and grassy areas.
  8. Afterwards the boat will take you to the last destination, the one you have all been waiting for, “El Cielito.” This is where you’ll spend your remaining time at sea.
  9. Here you can sit back and relax, while the guides bring fruit, snacks, and drinks. The water here is so shallow that you can sit in the sand and party like a rock star.
  10. At the end of the 4-hour tour, the boat will return you to the original meeting point at the Hotel "El Cid La Ceiba".
  11. This concludes your snorkeling experience at Cozumel.
